With your Windows Live account, you can get several benefits, such as an email account, chat via Windows Live Messenger, create your own website, share images, documents, meet people with the same tastes or opinions, etc.
In order to use all these services, a free of charge tool, called Windows Live Essentials (formerly called Windows Live Installer) must be downloaded. Windows Live Upload Tool, included in this package, is a free utility that allows you to upload and share any type of files, like photos, music, documents, etc, with your family and friends through SkyDrive.
The operation is very simple, it's like uploading an attachment to an e-mail. You can even drag and drop files. Another advantage is that once your files are uploaded, you can control some of their features, for example, permissions, that is to say, you can determine if your files will be available for everyone, or only for your contacts.
This program works only with Microsoft Internet Explorer. Many users have had problems with Windows Live Upload Tool, so I recommend you to upgrade to IE 7.0 or 8.0 and reinstall the tool.
